Abstract

In recent years, a plethora of new technologies has made it easier than ever for companies of all sizes and in all industries to achieve energy efficiency.  Decades ago, managers around the world recognized the importance of optimizing energy use.  This paper presents an analysis of publications on energy conservation and conscious electricity use.  It utilizes a literature review consisting of books, dissertations, journal and conference articles that detail methods for efficient energy management, the impact of energy conservation on production and operating costs within an industry, and the creation of energy conservation plans. It is concluded that industry professionals who have knowledge of energy efficient application methods are inclined to use them as a means of cost reduction and a strategic business move.
