Trichobezoar is a condition rarely seen, in which there is the formation of a hair mass in the patient´s gastrointestinal tract. This patology is considered as an outcome of a psychiatric condition know as trichophagia which is defined as the patient's need to put in the mouth and eat hair. When discovered, they are usually in advanced stages in with complications are present and that is why their diagnosis is so difficult. When reporting such an event, the main objective is to correlate psychiatric disorders such as trichotillomania and trichophagia with trichobezoars, bringing awareness to a better integrated and complete approach to such pathologies so that complications can be avoided and early diagnosis can occur. The existing reports of this pathology are mostly focused on the description of surgical treatments and procedures that can be performed. This article reports the case of a 9 - year - old patient diagnosed with gastric obstruction by trichobezoar that was done by the patients clinic and exams like ultrasond and CT scan, besides that ,after the cirgical approach as a laparotomy, a psychiatric consult was done and found out a history of anxiety and binge eating in childhood that led to trichophagia and trichotillomania that were not treated correctly , as a consequence, the patient did not continue the treatment and then a gastric obstruction was discovered after 6 years.
