The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) consists of a large contemporary health problem publishes. Bringing implications for society and its dimensions. In Brazil, from 2000 to 2014, were reported 84 558 pregnant women infected with HIV, with the highest rate in the Southeast (41.1%), South (31.1%) and Northeast (15.4%). As a result realized an increase in the number of vertical transmission of HIV cases for children. It is called vertical transmission (VT), a situation in which there is infection of the newborn during pregnancy, childbirth or through breastfeeding. The nurse is responsible for preparing the nursing care plan in prenatal consultation, based on identified needs, prioritizing them, implementing the interventions, driving directions and referrals to other services. Aiming to provide nursing care and monitoring of prenatal properly, so Nurses should, carry out educational activities from the biological point of view to diagnosing, preventing and early intervention for pregnant women. The survey was conducted in the municipality of salt Daisy with nurses working in the Family Health Units, in order to investigate whether these workers followed universal precautions SUS for patients with HIV / AIDS. If they obtained knowledge of the laws of protection to children and adolescents. Evidencing the need for these professionals being reclicados and seek new knowledge about the proposed theme. This study dealt on the knowledge of nursing professionals on the right of the RN in not being contaminated on breastfeeding postpartum with HIV / AIDS, describing the main actions developed by nursing in the context of preventing vertical transmission of HIV from pregnant women to infants , which prophylactic measures to be adopted by the appropriate staff and procedures in seeking to minimize contamination of the HIV virus to the newborn. Focusing on the universal right to life and health with the principles of fairness and completeness guaranteed by the Unified Health System (SUS) constituted by the ECA.
