This research aimed to evaluate the knowledge of medical students from a University Center about the laws and fundamentals of the SUS. In this sense, this is an exploratory field study with a quantitative approach, whose data collection was carried out from August 1st to September 1st, 2022 through the application of a questionnaire containing ten closed questions related to knowledge of SUS. The population of this study was composed of medical students from the 5th to the 12th, totaling 120 students, comparing the findings divided into clinical cycle and internship cycle groups; descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. It was observed that the internship students have greater knowledge about the laws and functioning of the SUS, since 100% of the questions obtained more correct answers in the internship group than the clinical group, in addition, the internship group included 10 academics who got 100% correct of the questionnaire, while the clinical cycle group only 4 academics. The results of the study show that medical students at this university have a growing knowledge of the topic, demonstrating the relevance of the topic and the way it is approached for the expected result.
