This article discusses the “Institutionalized Elderly: The role of the Social Worker with the families after institutionalization at Lar São Vicente de Paulo in Santarém-Pará”, aiming to analyze the family ties with the elderly and their implications, whose developmentsare often marked by conflicts that often break them, leading to the institutionalization of the elderly in Long Stay Institutions for the Elderly (ILPIs), seeking to identify the main causes that lead families to lose their ties with the elderly. , such asunderstand when these bonds break down and point out how the Social Worker intervenes with the families of these institutionalized elderly people with fragile bonds.
