This article sought to carry out a literature review on the influence of the antimicrobial action of propolis on women's health, highlighting its use in the treatment of candidiasis. Candidiasis is an opportunistic infection caused by Candida, a type of fungus, which is present in the female organism without causing damage, but its dysfunction can trigger the pathogenic factor of this yeast. It is from this that there was a need to search for new antifungal substances through products of natural origin, taking up space and expanding this market. The methodology used was a bibliographical review, where articles that will deal with the theme were used. It was concluded that propolis extract is cheap and accessible to the population. Thus receiving more attention when it comes to vaginal pathologies, being a therapeutic alternative in recurrent cases, making the use of aggressive antibiotics the female microbiota can be replaced by natural methods of treatment. Therefore, the propolis extract, as shown by several studies, has an efficient antimicrobial action and is comparable to antibiotics already used in routine, but with a lower price, easier access and of natural origin. In view of this, this extract with numerous bioactives has been standing out and being included in medical protocols, showing satisfactory results with low toxicity rates.
