The present work aims to make a study of the Maria da Penha Law and the application of criminal law involving cases of domestic and family violence, focusing on the crimes of bodily injury. To this end, the Maria da Penha Law and the modalities of crimes involving domestic and family violence will be analyzed, demonstrating the mechanisms brought that aim to curb and bring greater effectiveness to the application of the law. Then, it will be demonstrated the ineffectiveness of the protection to the woman and how she is revictimized due to such ineffectiveness in punishing the aggressor.
