Bruxism is characterized by having involuntary movements of clenching or grinding the teeth, being classified in sleep bruxism and wakefulness bruxism. The episodes of bruxism can cause damage to the temporomandibular joint, dental wear, among others. However, these effects can be minimized when the diagnosis is made at an early stage. There is no single protocol for the management of bruxism, as different therapies can be used, such as dental management, psychological management and pharmacological management. Thus, the different drug resources must be differentiated for each patient. Through the diagnosis of the patient made by a clinical examination and complete anamnesis, the most effective management can be directed, however, more research should be carried out to prove their effectiveness. This work consists of a literature review study with consultation of online databases such as Google academic, SciELO and PubMed, from which forty articles published from 1998 to 2021 were included in order to present the main forms of drug management for bruxism.
