Lactating cows require greater nutritional care due to the need for support and development of the calf. Thus, it is essential to analyze, among other aspects, the level of production, the average consumption of dry matter and the physical state of the same, in order to meet their needs and reach the highest level of productivity. Thus, the formulation of diets for the dairy herd, mainly with the addition of 22% feed, is a great tactic to meet the animal's demand and contribute to its productivity. As a methodology, an experimental study was carried out, involving a control group of 6 animals, which did not receive feed and another that received, on average, 4 kg of feed per animal daily for 15 days. The location of the animals was based on the analysis of milk production, in order to preserve the homogeneity in the samples. The data were entered into a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel software for analysis and placed in graphs to visually contribute to the work. Furthermore, the objective of this research is to review the nutritional requirements of lactating cows, elucidate the advantages of offering feed at 22% and prove through the results obtained by experimentation that this management is more productive and, consequently, profitable. The final mean gain obtained was 4.17 kg of milk/animal in the experimental group versus 0.77 kg in the control group. In this way, it can be affirmed that the offer of feed at 22% is advantageous.
