Abstract

Faced with the significant increase in the number of cases of covid-19 as of March 2020 and the lack of vaccines and effective treatments for the disease, the health authorities of Brazilian states and municipalities began actions seeking to substantially reduce of interpersonal contact. These actions included the halting of all non-essential economic activities, the closing of schools and express recommendations for people to stay in their homes as long as possible (INLOCO, 2021).
