Vasa preview(previa) is a rare obstetric complication with an estimated incidence of 6 to 11 cases per 10,000 pregnancies, one of the most important causes of third trimester hemorrhage, and it is associated with a perinatal mortality rate of over 56% when not diagnosed before-natal. The purpose of this research based on review of data is to analyze the results of studies that change the importance of early diagnosis and compare the relevance of universal screening with screening only when risk factors occur. Six articles were selected in the PUBMED research platform, taking into account the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There was consensus on early diagnosis through transvaginal ultrasound associated with color Doppler and only one author disagreed with the non-universal screening for Vasa previa.
