This scientific article conducts a bibliographic survey on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their first contact of schooling, aiming to reflect on the main aspects of this initial insertion. These moments are permeated by expectations regarding the development and learning of the child, especially with regard to social development. Despite the cognitive specificities of autistic children and communicative difficulties, the experiences of committed and trained professionals demonstrate that the teaching process may take time, however, the results and contributions to the schooling of these children may become effective, therefore it is of paramount importance to encourage from the first contacts in school, requiring awareness of parents and training of educators, given the importance of this initial insertion for the etudantil life of the child with transtorno of the autistic spectrum.
