This article proposes a retrospective study on children's autonomy in early childhood education. The research questions were: how children respond to stimuli and how teachers build this autonomy. For this, we carried out bibliographic research to understand what educators are doing to foster autonomy in children, not only to gain decision-making power, but to understand what is appropriate or correct to take into account when finding answers in the way of thinking and attributing solutions. On a theoretical basis, we turn to the contributions of Froebel's pedagogy, which concerns the "kindergarten" of autonomy in the context of early childhood education and the contribution of teachers to develop this autonomy in the construction of paths to develop autonomy in thinking. and in the field of individual and social education.
