Abstract

Family farming is a reality present in the municipality of Bela Cruz - CE. In this sense, a historical, geographical and economic approach was necessary to analyze the viability of family farming as an increment to the local economy, to understand the family farmers' view of the existing programs and the perspective of improvements for their families and communities. According to Carneiro (2000, p. 131), there is a conceptual consensus on: "family agriculture is understood, in general terms, as a production unit where work, land and family are closely related". It is in the midst of this universe with historical, geographical marks and great economic potentiality focused on agriculture that PRONAF, with its axes of exploitation in PNAE and PAA, represented an ally for the generation of employment and income, as well as the improvement of the lives of family farming producers. Faced with so many challenges such as the non-involvement of this public with the technological universe, the closing down of families who tried to stand out on their own, unaware of the richness of collective work; the film "Old Futures: Learning from Ladahk", inspired by the book "Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladahk" by author Helen Norberg-Hodge contributed to a deep and rich reflection on the invasion of the effects of globalization that plague humanity.
