ANXIETY IN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: INFLUENCES ON EJA LEARNING - YOUTH AND ADULT EDUCATION AND COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY IN THE INTERVENTION

INTRODUCTION: The emotional implications caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically, anxiety, affect countless people worldwide and, in particular, young and adult students. It is noticed that emotions, affection, feelings and behavior are at the base of all human actions, among them, learning. Learning is the process through which the individual actively appropriates a network of knowledge inserted in his human experience in the family, school, group, social context, in addition to the knowledge of the social values of what his social group teaches. The current education scenario involves many measures to prevent the contagion of the virus, such as social distancing and isolation and remote classes, which implies the generation of several disturbing emotional impacts on students. OBJECTIVE: To discuss how anxiety, in this pandemic period, has interfered the learning of EJA’s students and to highlight the contributions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the intervention. METHODOLOGY: It’s based on theoretical literature the method of review as bibliographic, qualitative and exploratory research.The materials consisted of books, dissertations, scientific articles available in Capes Periodicals, SciELO, Bvsalud, Pepsic, Brazilian Journal of Cognitive Therapies (RBTC), Google Academy, from 2010 to 2022. RESULTS: It was evidenced that the anxiety produced during the Covid-19 period brought losses in the education of young and adults; presence of symptoms of anguish, restlessness, intense fear, worry; isolation and other measures adopted against the pandemic, influence the emotional behavior of students, causing difficulties in cognition and social interaction, which are important factors for learning. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The psycho-socio-emotional effects caused by the anxiety imposed by Covid-19 negatively influenced the behavior and learning of young and adult students. The Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapeutic intervention focuses on reducing symptoms, and can improve cognitive capacities such as attention, concentration, and emotional strengthening, aiming at physical, mental and educational well-being of students.
