The central question of this study is built around the importance of self-knowledge for leadership development and obtaining personal and professional success. Objectively, this article aims to understand the concepts of self-knowledge and self-awareness and establish the relationship of these issues with the primordial characteristics for the development of leadership as a competence. It also intends to analyze how the definition of success is perceived socially and individually and how successful trajectories are influenced by the practice of self-knowledge. To elucidate this proposal, the method used made use of bibliographical research and dissertation content from other articles, lectures, interviews and podcasts, analysis of personal characteristics identified in biographies of historically recognized leaders, and a comparative study of the life trajectories of contemporary influencers selected by the author. As a result, one can point to the finding that self-knowledge and emotional management are necessary for personal and professional growth and, therefore, impact the development and quality of leadership as a competence and the achievement of success and personal fulfillment. The demonstrations also lead to the conclusion that relevant social transformations are largely influenced by leadership and successful trajectories developed based on self-knowledge.
