The present study aims to carry out a historical survey of the fibromyalgia syndrome and its relationship with psychosomatic painful aspects based on the theoretical scientific constructs of Psychoanalysis. The studies carried out brought numerous definitions about fibromyalgia, as an inflammatory process, a painful syndrome, chronic pain, lower pain tolerance, and as a response to psychic pain. We understand that the Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), as well as any condition in the subject's body should not be exhaustive, as being only psychic or only organic, it is important to validate the numerous human dimensions, such as biological, psychological, social, environmental, spiritual, etc. Regardless of the methodological/scientific approach and bias adopted for the study and monitoring of Fibromyalgia, it is important to understand how it affects the lives of subjects, taking into account suffering, welcoming the subject in his pain, be it psychic, physical or any another possible dimension to be considered.
