ANÁLISE FUNCIONAL DA COBERTURA DE REDES MÓVEIS NA CIDADE DE PELOTAS- RS

Abstract

In a survey from the beginning of the mobile communication until the present day, that demands high speed digital communications, this work shows an overall view about the mobile communication history and development highlighting the most advanced technology of the fourth generation, the LTE (Long Term Evolution). this work makes a deep investigation in the LTE technology with a network simulations using the "LTE Link Level Simulator". Through the "LTE Link Level Simulator" will be studied the network behavior characteristics using predefined parameters. The simulations were done to investigate two different situations. In the first one demonstrates the behavior of the highly populated Pelotas' downtown network, using a channel of 20 MHz bandwidth and a carrier of 2500 MHz. In the second one improvements to the system were proposed using femtocells with the objective to extract information about the network overloading due the increasing number of users and network coverage faults. Considering the analysis of the situation with network overload it was observed an improvement in system performance when using femtocells. Among the parameters evaluated, there was an increase of 1.22 Mb/s on average transfer rates per user.
