This work presents experiences of resident nurses during the development of an intervention project using continuing education to promote awareness of professionals in a maternity hospital in Paraíba about the management of pain in newborns. Three meetings were held, which included the presence of several professionals from the neonatal units of that institution, exposing the importance and need for the use of non-pharmacological methods for pain relief in PTNB. During the presentation, there were discussions about the topics explained, in which each professional present contributed with their professional experience, questions and suggestions. Thus, through continuing education, it was possible to build an environment for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, adding values to both the resident nurses and the professionals present at the meeting, in addition to contributing to the service by raising awareness of the impacts of pain on premature, possible consequences and alternative methods for their reduction, in favor of a better experience during the hospitalization of the little ones.
