Abstract

This study was carried out based on primary and secondary documents, whose objective was to bring to light the process of cariology in 19th century Brazilian society, where resources in defense of oral health in the non-governmental aspect were in full expansion in the market and that contributed to the aesthetic satisfaction of the individuals who sought it.
