Abstract

This report discusses the educational experience carried out within the mandatory courses "Human Rights Education" and "Inclusion in Education" as part of the Chemistry Licentiate degree program at IFRJ (Duque de Caxias campus), involving 56 and 81 enrolled students, respectively. The objective was to encourage future teachers to engage with readings on educational inclusion and human rights, utilizing content provided by digital platforms (EV.G, AVAMEC, Aprenda Mais, and IFRS). Students were invited to take free distance learning courses, ranging from 20 to 40 hours, offered by these public institutions. As part of the course planning, students were required to complete the chosen course by the end of the semester, present their certificate, and participate in an in-person assessment activity (self-assessment) that linked the course content to the specific objectives of the university subject. Participation in these external courses was optional, as students could choose an alternative assessment method. The overall assessment process was formative and continuous, comprising a seminar presentation (group work) and the completion of this outreach activity. Thus, this teaching experience within the degree program aligns with the National Curriculum Guidelines for Initial Teacher Training (Brazil, 2024) regarding the use of Information and Communication Technologies, inclusive education, professional ethics, and an understanding of the teacher's role within the context of educational, social, and economic inequalities.
