COMMUNICATIONAL, ATTITUDINAL AND ARCHITECTURAL ACCESSIBILITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A STUDY ON SERVICE AND INFRASTRUCTURE AT UFAM

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze accessibility practices and resources at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), focusing on the communication, attitudinal, and architectural dimensions in services and infrastructure for the academic community. The study is based on Jesus' dissertation (2022), the Course Completion Works by Correa and Lopes (2024), literature from Information Science indexed in BRAPCI (Silva; Souza, 2019; Garcia; Bastos, 2021), the Brazilian Inclusion Law (Law No. 13,146/2015), and the technical standard ABNT NBR 9050/2020. A qualitative, exploratory, and bibliographic-documentary methodology was adopted. The results showed progress in mediation and institutional accessibility policies, in contrast to the persistent gaps in ongoing Libras training for staff and in permanent physical adaptations of university buildings. It can be concluded that consolidating inclusion at UFAM requires effective integration between institutional management, information mediation, assistive technologies, and spatial adaptation.
