OPERATIONALIZATION OF THE NURSING PROCESS IN THE HEMODYNAMICS SERVICE: A CRITICAL REFLECTION ON ADVANCES, CHALLENGES, AND PERSPECTIVES

Abstract

This article aimed to reflect on the operationalization of the Nursing Process in a university hospital’s hemodynamics service, identifying evidence, advances, weaknesses, challenges, and strategies for its consolidation. It is a theoretical-reflective study based on a critical analysis of scientific literature and documents regarding the operationalization of the Nursing Process and its implications for care in hemodynamics services. The reflection drew upon scientific literature and regulatory documents—notably COFEN Resolution No. 736/2024—and was organized into five thematic axes: “Conceptual foundations of the nursing process in cardiovascular care”; “Specifics of nursing care in hemodynamics services”; “Operationalization of the five stages of the nursing process in the care context”; “Potential of the nursing process for quality, safety, and continuity of care”; and “Barriers, challenges, and perspectives for strengthening evidence-based practice.” The study concluded that, despite regulatory advances, high patient turnover, the diversity of procedures, and the urgency of interventions still hinder the full operationalization of the Nursing Process; thus, investment in continuing education, agile documentation tools, and the strengthening of a patient safety culture is required.
