Abstract

The new digital technologies that emerged in the first decades of the 21st century are a consequence of a technological revolution encompassing all areas of society: health, education, agriculture, economy, and public safety. Regarding the latter, the integration of cutting-edge technological equipment into public safety forces, specifically the Military Police of Pará, has significantly contributed to the effectiveness of combating crime through the technical training of police personnel and the consequent use of new technologies, such as drones, in police operations. This study, entitled "Drone Technology at the Service of the Military Police of Pará," will discuss issues related to the acquisition of drones or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) by the PMPA and the technical training of police personnel. The purpose of the research was to analyze the acquisition of drones by the Military Police of Pará and the consequent use of this technology in combating crime. The methodology was based on Gil (2025) and consisted of: theoretical and documentary research, collection of digitized data, and empirical observation.  As a result, the use of new technologies in police service leads to the modernization of equipment and operational actions of the police force. Finally, the investment in state-of-the-art technology in the operational service of the PMPA (Military Police of Pará) expresses an attempt to increase the effectiveness of policing and, above all, to guarantee the preservation of life in highly relevant police actions.
