This article provides a historical analysis of changes in the entry profile of enlisted personnel in the Pará Military Police between 2007 and 2023, considering changes in admission requirements, selection stages, examination content, and the professional competencies required of candidates. The study aimed to identify continuities and transformations in recruitment processes and to understand how these changes demonstrate an expansion from a predominantly operational soldier profile to that of a multifunctional police officer. The research problem investigated how the evolution of PMPA recruitment notices during the period analyzed reflected the new legal, social, functional, communicative, and technological demands of military police work. This is a documentary study with a qualitative, descriptive, historical, and comparative approach, based on the analysis of recruitment notices issued in 2007, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2023; the objective examinations administered in 2016 and 2020; institutional regulations and documents; and, as a complementary comparison, recruitment notices from the military police forces of Minas Gerais, Paraíba, and São Paulo. The results showed that physical, disciplinary, psychological, and operational requirements remained central, while upper-secondary education, a driver’s license, background checks, legal knowledge, institutional legislation, and information technology were progressively incorporated. The comparison with other police forces also revealed an increasing emphasis on foreign-language skills and written communication. It is concluded that the multifunctional police officer does not replace the operational soldier but represents an expanded professional profile combining operational capability, legal knowledge, emotional balance, communication skills, functional responsibility, and technological competence.
