Abstract

Digital technologies are present in education, contributing to both teacher professional development and student performance. These technologies exist and help transform society, thereby equipping children to engage with current technological media. This study is grounded in qualitative bibliographic research, drawing on data from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) and the work of authors such as Kenski (2003, 2007), Vygotsky (1994, 1996), and Buckingham (2000), as well as the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) and a brief history of the evolution of early childhood education legislation. Based on the investigation, the following conclusions were reached: children of this generation—considered digital natives—use technologies highly effectively in the teaching-learning process; technological media play a role in early childhood classrooms by supporting children's holistic development; and early childhood education legislation effectively contributes to the achievement of educational goals.
