THE ROLE OF CHILDREN'S LITERATURE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relevance of children's literature in early childhood education. The methodology employed was a qualitative, basic bibliographic research. Regarding the results, I believe the proposed objectives—analyzing the importance of children's literature in the classroom and highlighting the nature of the relationship between reading and the child—were successfully achieved. The relationship between children's literature and the school (specifically the classroom) is one in which both must stimulate and strengthen the child's development; literature serves as a vehicle for disseminating values ​​and fostering imagination, creativity, and fantasy. Storytelling in the classroom creates and recreates an enchanted, moving environment—full of surprises and suspense—where characters come to life and the reader becomes a participant in the story.
