WORK ENVIRONMENT: THE ROLE OF ONBOARD OCCUPATIONAL HEALT AND SAFETY GROUP IN SAFEGUARDING THE WORK ENVIRONMENT OF CREW MEMBERS ON VESSELS USED FOR WATERWAY TRANSFORT IN AMAZONAS (MANAUS-PARINTINS ROUTE) DURING THE BOI-BUMBÁ FESTIVAL

Abstract

This article aimed to discuss the value of the Onboard Occupational Health and Safety Group as a tool for safeguarding the work environment of river transport workers on vessels operating the Manaus-Parintins route during the Parintins Boi-Bumbá folklore festival. The study evaluates the festival's importance to Amazonian culture, tourism, and the regional economy; examines the characteristics and risks of waterborne transport in the State of Amazonas—specifically on the Manaus-Parintins-Manaus route—regarding the workers' environment; and analyzes the Group as a mechanism for protecting that work environment.
