NR-18. Work Safety. Civil Construction. Accidents.Abstract
The construction industry is one of those that pose the most risks to its workers. Due to the high rate of accidents, regulatory standards undergo updates to improve workplace safety, as well as the well-being of employees at construction sites. For this reason, regulatory standards need to be revised from time to time so that they can keep up with the technological evolution of materials, machines and equipment. However, the high rate of work accidents and fatal occurrences generated by this sector reflects negatively on society as a whole. One of the main causes of accidents in the construction industry continues to be the lack of professional awareness, in addition to the culture, both on the part of employers and employees, who do not give due importance to the Occupational Safety Standards, as a way to prevent and prevent accidents. Thus, the importance of evaluating the working conditions and environment is evident, in order to avoid or minimize physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and accident risks in each situation. As a way to change this situation and prevent accidents at work, a greater commitment and awareness on the part of everyone involved in the sector is needed, including the qualification of the workforce and a more rigorous inspection by the Ministry of Labor. Aiming at work safety from the beginning of the works, in the project elaboration phase, where the possible risks and the means to neutralize them must be analyzed. This work aims to analyze the main changes in the new text of NR-18/20 and alert companies about the dates to update themselves in relation to the change.
