Abstract

This study analyzed the experience of an educational intervention conducted by nursing students to promote patient safety culture in an Emergency Care Unit. This is a descriptive experience report carried out at the Padre Lázaro Crispim Emergency Care Unit, in Sabará, Minas Gerais, during March 2026. The intervention used active methodologies and teaching materials directed at the International Patient Safety Goals, reaching a coverage of 63.9% (n=101) of the eligible multidisciplinary team. The results showed high participation and receptivity of the workers, with significant advances in practical awareness about safe identification, effective communication, medication safety, hand hygiene, and fall prevention, overcoming barriers such as work overload. It is concluded that contextualized educational actions integrated into the healthcare environment are feasible and fundamental strategies to strengthen the safety culture, qualifying immediate care and consolidating continuing education and critical training in nursing.
