Abstract

This article analyzes the factors associated with demotivation and burnout among civil police officers in the state of Rondônia, with an emphasis on professional recognition, remuneration, benefits, working conditions, and police staffing levels. It is an applied research study, using a mixed-methods approach, developed through a literature review, document analysis, and data collection from officers of the Rondônia Civil Police. The document analysis included the analysis of institutional data, state legislation, payroll statements, and information on police staffing levels. Additionally, an electronic questionnaire based on the Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) was applied to 84 civil police officers to identify indicators of occupational burnout. The results show a significant shortfall in functional benefits due to accumulated inflation, pay differences compared to other state agencies, structural limitations in police units, and a high frequency of burnout-related symptoms among the participants. It is concluded that the perception of professional devaluation, associated with working conditions and salary discrepancies, is related to indicators of demotivation and occupational burnout, reinforcing the need for public policies aimed at professional development, mental health, and improving the working conditions of civil police officers.
