GENDER INEQUALITIES IN CONTEMPORARY BRAZIL: AN ANALYSIS BASED ON RASEAM 2025

Abstract

This article analyzes the socioeconomic condition of women in contemporary Brazil based on the Annual Socioeconomic Report on Women (RASEAM 2025), understanding that the persistence of gender inequalities reveals the gap between the formal recognition of rights and their effective materialization in social reality. The research is justified by its scientific, political, and social relevance, since a critical reading of the report makes it possible to understand the obstacles to the realization of citizenship, social justice, democracy, and sustainable development for Brazilian women. The research problem consists of examining how RASEAM 2025, makes it possible to understand the socioeconomic condition of women in Brazil and to what extent the indicators systematized therein reveal persistent gender inequalities. The general objective is to analyze this socioeconomic condition based on the report, identifying the effects of such inequalities on citizenship, democracy, and social justice. Methodologically, this is a qualitative, bibliographic, and documentary study, using an analytical-interpretative approach grounded in a comprehensive and critical reading of RASEAM 2025, and in dialogue with theoretical frameworks from the fields of gender studies, education, human rights, and public policies. The results reveal structural inequalities in access to work, income, protection of life, and political participation, demonstrating that women’s condition remains marked by historical and multidimensional asymmetries. It is concluded that RASEAM 2025, constitutes a strategic document for the production of critical and socially committed knowledge, while also providing relevant support for the formulation of public policies and for encouraging further research on the subject, given its academic and social importance.
