POLITICAL PERSECUTION AND DISMISSAL DUE TO STRIKE ACTION. PERNAMBUCO, 1964

Abstract

This article analyzes the policy of persecution instituted by Governor Paulo Guerra against municipal and state employees suspected of involvement with the Peasant Leagues and the Communist Party. Furthermore, it uses as a guiding thread to analyze retaliatory practices promoted by rural landowners against workers who organized themselves into peasant leagues, unions, and political parties a labor lawsuit initiated in the Conciliation and Judgment Board of Goiana by the rural worker Francisco Manoel da Silva.
