ASSESSMENT OF THE SELF-ESTEEM OF THE NURSING STAFF WORKING IN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS BY MEANS OF ROSENBERG SELF-ESTEEM SCALE

Objective: Evaluating the self-esteem level of the nursing staff working in the emergency and urgent care sectors. Materials and methods: this was an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, conducted at a hospital in Northern Minas Gerais. The study population consisted of nursing assistants, nursing technicians, and nurses from the urgent and emergency services. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), was used to assess the overall self-esteem of the individuals. Results: 117 nursing staff members from emergency and urgent care sectors participated in the study, revealing that 100% of the professionals presented low self-esteem Conclusion: the need for further research focused on low self-esteem in nursing professionals is highlighted, aiming to strengthen scientific knowledge about the factors that interfere with the emotional health of these workers, as well as the adoption of measures to prevent emotional distress by hospital institutions in order to develop strategies for promoting mental health.
