THE QUILOMBOLA COMMUNITY SAGRADO CORAÇÃO DE JESUS OF ITACOATIARA - AM: A STATE OF KNOWLEDGE OF SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION

Abstract

 This article analyzes the state of scientific knowledge regarding the Sagrado Coração de Jesus do Lago de Serpa Quilombola community, located in Itacoatiara, Amazonas, addressing the fragmentation and dispersion of this body of work across various fields of knowledge. The objective is to identify the thematic areas investigated, the methodological approaches adopted, and the main research trends. A "state of knowledge" review was conducted using qualitative and quantitative approaches, involving a bibliographic survey across seven databases: CAPES Journal Portal, SciELO, BDTD, CAPES Catalog of Theses and Dissertations, Google Scholar, RIU/UFAM, and RUE/UEA. The survey identified 62 works, 16 of which formed the main corpus because they focused on the community as the central object of investigation. The results reveal significant growth in publications starting in 2024, a predominance of scientific articles (31.3%), and a thematic concentration on Education and Identity, and Sanitation and Water—topics that together account for 50% of the corpus. Nine gaps were identified, most notably the absence of Quilombola narratives serving as an autonomous voice and as a research methodology. The study concludes that the body of research calls for participatory, interdisciplinary, and longitudinal investigations that address the community's social, historical, and environmental complexities.
