Abstract

Integrated logistics plays a fundamental role in the efficiency of industrial operations, particularly in regions heavily reliant on specific transport systems for production inputs and the distribution of goods. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the importance of integrating river transport with the supply chain for the competitiveness of the Manaus Industrial Pole. The research took the form of a qualitative literature review—exploratory and descriptive in nature—based on the analysis of scientific articles, books, technical reports, and institutional documents regarding logistics, Amazonian river transport, and the Manaus Industrial Pole. The results highlighted that river transport is a strategic element in the region's economic dynamics, accounting for a significant portion of the movement of inputs and manufactured goods. It was also found that factors such as river seasonality, infrastructure limitations, and extreme weather events can compromise logistical efficiency and impact corporate competitiveness. Furthermore, the study found that the efficient integration of logistics processes contributes to reduced operating costs, increased operational predictability, and a strengthened supply chain. The study concludes that improving waterway infrastructure and logistics management practices is essential to ensuring greater operational efficiency and sustainability for the Manaus Industrial Pole.
