ENTOMOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE AS A MONITORING TOOL FOR AEDES AEGYPTI IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MISSAL, PARANÁ, IN 2021

This article analyzed the results of entomological surveillance carried out in Missal, Paraná, during 2021, aiming to identify infestation indices, main breeding sites and areas of higher risk for the proliferation of Aedes aegypti. The study adopted a descriptive, documentary and retrospective approach, based on state building infestation bulletins, municipal annexes by cycle and local records on the Rapid Index Survey for Aedes aegypti. The results indicated that Missal remained in an alert condition, with a Building Infestation Index of 2.2 percent in the first state cycle, 2.5 percent in April and 1.2 percent in September, without reaching the satisfactory parameter below 1 percent. The breeding sites described included fountain, cistern, pot, swimming pool, drain and barrel, associated with mobile deposits, fixed deposits and water storage containers. It is concluded that entomological surveillance supported local planning and demonstrated the need for continuous vector control actions.
