This article aims to analyze nursing care strategies in the Obstetric Intensive Care Unit focused on maternal health recovery and the reduction of maternal-fetal mortality. The methodology adopted was a descriptive bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, based on data collected from scientific publications related to the topic, published between 2021 and 2026. The research showed that hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, HELLP syndrome, puerperal infections, and postpartum hemorrhage are the main causes of maternal morbidity and mortality, requiring specialized care and continuous monitoring. The results demonstrated that nursing practice is fundamental in the early identification of complications, clinical and hemodynamic monitoring, implementation of care protocols, health education, and the provision of humanized care. Furthermore, welcoming practices and emotional support for pregnant women contribute to better maternal and neonatal outcomes. It is concluded that qualified nursing care in the Obstetric Intensive Care Unit plays an essential role in preventing complications, promoting maternal health recovery, and reducing maternal-fetal mortality, reinforcing the need for continuous professional training and the implementation of evidence-based practices.
