IMPACT OF RESISTANCE EXERCISE ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PACIENTS WITH PARKINSON’S DISEASE: A NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL ALTERNATIVE

This article aims to analyze the scientific evidence regarding physiotherapy interventions applied to the rehabilitation of individuals with Parkinson's Disease, highlighting their effects on the motor and non-motor symptoms of the disease. To this end, a literature review was conducted, comprising 32 studies published between 2016 and 2026, including randomized clinical trials, controlled studies, observational studies, case series, and pilot research. The studies were organized into different intervention categories, such as respiratory exercises, resistance training, aerobic exercises, gait training, balance and postural control, multicomponent programs, high-complexity motor interventions, assistive technologies, manual dexterity training, and diagnostic assessment methods. The results showed that physiotherapy interventions contribute to increased muscle strength, improved balance, reduced risk of falls, improved gait, strengthening of respiratory muscles, improved cognitive functions, and increased functional capacity. In addition, technological resources and innovative approaches showed potential to optimize rehabilitation and promote patient autonomy. In conclusion, physiotherapy plays an essential role in the management of Parkinson's Disease, promoting multidimensional benefits that positively impact functionality, independence, and quality of life.
