ABSTRACT: Introduction: Violence against women is a serious social and public health problem, marked by unequal gender relations and physical, psychological, family, and community repercussions, which may progress to femicide. Objective: To analyze the contributions of nurses in addressing violence against women and their relevance in strategies for preventing femicide. Methodology: This is a descriptive bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, carried out in the BVS, SciELO, LILACS, and PubMed databases, including articles published between January 2022 and March 2026. Results and discussions: Fifteen studies were selected and organized into four thematic axes: coping practices and humanized care; action within the intersectoral network and public policies; compulsory notification and qualified listening; and structural, educational, and organizational barriers. The findings showed that nurses contribute to the early identification of violence, humanized care, qualified listening, case recording, compulsory notification, and referral to the protection network. Conclusion: It is concluded that nurses’ work is essential to interrupt cycles of violence and prevent femicide, requiring the strengthening of professional training, care protocols, intersectoral coordination, and protection mechanisms for women.
