Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of cervical cancer in Brazil between 2014 and 2024, identifying distribution patterns and factors associated with the disease. It is a descriptive, retrospective, and quantitative epidemiological study, conducted using secondary data obtained from the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), utilizing information from the Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS), the Mortality Information System (SIM), and the Cancer Information System (SISCAN). Variables related to hospitalizations, deaths, mortality rate, age group, cytopathological examinations, and regional distribution were analyzed. The results showed an increase in the number of hospitalizations and deaths throughout the historical series, with a higher concentration of cases among women aged 40 to 44 years and a predominance in the Southeast and Northeast regions. A reduction in the hospital mortality rate was observed during the analyzed period, although significant regional inequalities related to access to health services persist. It is concluded that cervical cancer remains a significant public health problem in Brazil, making it essential to strengthen screening programs, HPV vaccination, early diagnosis, and timely treatment, especially in the most vulnerable populations.
