THE EFFICACY OF THIAMIDOL IN THE TREATMENT OF MELANIC PERIORBITAL HYPERPIGMENTATION: A NARRATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW FOCUSED ON CLINICAL EVIDENCE

The present study aimed to analyze the efficacy of Thiamidol in the treatment of periorbital melanic hyperpigmentation through a narrative literature review focused on clinical evidence. The search was conducted in the PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar, and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, including studies published between 2015 and 2025 in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Clinical trials and review studies addressing the use of Thiamidol in cutaneous hyperpigmentation were selected. The results demonstrated that Thiamidol acts as a highly specific inhibitor of human tyrosinase, promoting a significant reduction in melanogenesis and clinical improvement in conditions such as melasma and solar lentigines. Furthermore, the active ingredient showed a high safety profile, with a low incidence of adverse effects. However, a lack of specific clinical studies focused on periorbital hyperpigmentation was observed, which limits the direct generalization of the findings. It is concluded that Thiamidol represents a promising alternative in the treatment of melanic hyperpigmentation, standing out for its efficacy and safety, although further studies are necessary to confirm its applicability in the periorbital region.
