Abstract

This article aimed to analyze nursing interventions directed toward the care of people with neuropathic wounds, especially those related to Diabetes Mellitus, treated in a specialized outpatient clinic. This is a retrospective, documentary, observational cohort study with a descriptive quantitative approach, developed at the Chronic Wounds Outpatient Clinic of the State University of the Midwest (UNICENTRO), in the state of Paraná. Data collection was carried out through the analysis of physical and electronic medical records of patients monitored between 2023 and 2025, considering sociodemographic and clinical variables, lesion characteristics, and recorded nursing interventions. The results demonstrated a predominance of male and elderly patients, with associated arterial hypertension. A high frequency of interventions was observed, such as systematic wound assessment, wound measurement, cleaning with 0.9% saline solution, dressing procedures, use of special dressings, debridement, and guidance related to self-care, glycemic control, and prevention of complications. It is concluded that the nurse's role is essential in the management of neuropathic wounds, directly contributing to healing, prevention of amputations, and improvement of patients' quality of life.
