The article sought to analyze the relationship between family farming and food security, highlighting the main challenges faced by rural producers in Santarém-PA and their impacts on rural development. Family farming is recognized as an essential activity for sustainable development, contributing to food production, income generation, and the strengthening of the local economy. However, factors such as difficulties in accessing resources, technical assistance, infrastructure, and product commercialization can limit the development of this activity. The research integrated knowledge from the fields of Agronomy, Agroecology, Rural Economics, and Rural Extension, articulating theory and practice on topics related to agricultural production and food security. The actions carried out included two field visits to the Feira da Cohab and Mercadão 2000, where interviews were conducted with market vendors and producers to understand the challenges faced in the development of agricultural activities. During the activities, the research involved the participation of approximately 20 people, with a predominance of the female audience, expanding knowledge on the subject, strengthening the interaction between participants and the local community, and fostering the sharing of experiences and knowledge acquired collectively. Overall, the research highlighted the importance of family farming for social, economic, and sustainable development.
