This study analyzes the impacts resulting from the implementation of the "New High School" (Novo Ensino Médio) in the state public school system of Pernambuco, focusing on the pedagogical and structural repercussions on Physical Education as a curricular component. Based on a critical and analytical approach, it discusses the gap between federal (Law No. 13,415/2017) and state (2021 Pernambuco Curriculum) regulatory prescriptions and the reality of full-time schools. Partial results reveal that the reform led to a scientific hollow out of Physical Education, marked by a drastic reduction of its class hours within the Basic General Training (Formação Geral Básica) and its complete exclusion from the third year. Furthermore, a scenario of precarious teaching work is evidenced, characterized by compulsory disciplinary eclecticism and insufficient school physical infrastructure. Although the recent Law No. 14,945/2024 attempts to reorganize school hours and reestablish the continuous mandatory status of these subjects, it is concluded that the model preserves the neotechnicist essence of competence-based pedagogy. Thus, Physical Education remains challenged to build pedagogical resistance strategies that guarantee democratic access to the knowledge of body movement culture.
