Dactyloscopic identification is one of the most traditional and effective tools in global criminal forensics, playing a central role in elucidating crimes within the Brazilian scenario. This article analyzes the strategic relevance of this technique, based on the scientific pillars of immutability, perennity, and individuality of fingerprints. The research problem investigates how dactyloscopy maintains its supremacy and practical viability in the face of emerging biometric technologies and DNA sequencing. Methodologically, a qualitative bibliographic and documentary review was conducted, consulting classical doctrines by Vucetich and Galton, as well as current legislation and contemporary scientific articles. The results demonstrate that technical precision, combined with low operational costs and the implementation of automated systems (AFIS), consolidates dactyloscopy as an irreplaceable method for identifying perpetrators and victims. It is concluded that papilloscopic identification is indispensable for legal certainty and the effectiveness of criminal prosecution in Brazil, requiring continuous investment in infrastructure and database integration.
