THE PROCEDURAL LIMITATIONS OF THE PROSECUTOR’S ASSISTANT IN CRIMES AGAINST SEXUAL DIGNITY IN BRAZIL: AT ODDS WITH THE SYSTEM FOR GUARANTEEING VICTIMS’ RIGHTS

Abstract

This article sought to analyze the current role of the Assistant Prosecutor, discussing the limitations imposed on this position, highlighting its positive contribution to the enforcement of victims’ rights and the prevention of revictimization, and defending the legitimacy of this institution. Additionally, it demonstrates how in Portugal their role is broader, granting them greater powers and ensuring better judicial services. Through bibliographic research and analysis of different points of view, the study seeks to identify the main concerns, interests, and solutions arising from the application of this institution.
