The purpose of this study was to apprehend the relationship between the concepts of time and pedagogical work, as well as to identify the role of School Councils in guaranteeing their school use, for an integral, emancipatory, human and citizen education for students in public schools. The idea for this article arose from the preparation for the presentation of a seminar with a series of notebooks prepared by the MEC, specifically, the one dealing with the School Board and the significant use of pedagogical time (Note 4), which became the base text for the article in question. As a methodology, bibliographic research was used, based on current legislation, articles, academic works and master's dissertations, in order to present a reflection on the relationship of school councils and pedagogical time in schools, concerning the quality of teaching and the significant use of time in learning. We seek, therefore, to consider the historical context about the construction of the proposed concepts, the processes of promotion, encouragement and support to School Councils in view of the work and demands to be developed in and with the school and its importance and prominence in the pedagogical processes.
