This article aimed to analyze the prevalence and risk factors of stroke in Brazil between 2013 and 2024 through an analytical literature review, in which the databases used were the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and PubMed, using the descriptors: risk factors, stroke, control, and clinical profile. It was observed that the disease is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality, as well as functional disability, generating a significant impact on individuals' quality of life and on healthcare systems. The rapid identification of stroke signs and symptoms and the initiation of treatment within the therapeutic window are therefore determining factors in reducing mortality and neurological sequelae. The analyzed studies demonstrate that primary and secondary prevention strategies play an essential role in reducing the incidence and recurrence of stroke. This work aims to analytically and coherently elucidate the profile of patients with stroke and how these factors can be controlled to minimize sequelae and symptoms.
