The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of hydrotherapy on improving joint mobility in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This is an integrative literature review conducted using the PICo strategy, with the population being individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, the intervention being hydrotherapy, and the context being improved joint mobility. The search was conducted in the VHL (Virtual Health Library), including LILACS, MEDLINE, and BDENF, initially identifying 67 studies. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria and the PRISMA method, five articles were selected for analysis. The results showed that hydrotherapy promotes pain reduction, decreased morning stiffness, improved range of motion, and greater comfort during exercise, due to the properties of heated water such as buoyancy, muscle relaxation, and reduced joint stress. Comparative studies have shown that hydrokinesiotherapy may have broader effects than land-based kinesiotherapy, especially in pain relief and functional improvement. In conclusion, hydrotherapy is an effective and safe intervention to improve joint mobility and functionality in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, significantly contributing to their quality of life.
